Regular Sneaker News readers will remember adidas Originals issuing an NBA Pack of Phantom IIs a few years back when the Brand with the Three Stripes picked up the league's exclusive licensing rights, but did you know its  prequel' isn't a basketball shoe at all?

The adidas Originals Phantom is a stability-minded runner whose peak days came back in the mid-late 1980s, but this red and brown-accented navy blue mix of suede and leather is most definitely a product of the 2010's lifestyle revolution. A gum sole nails home the classic meets modern refinement vibe and they're available now at select retailers like Titolo. Our most recent adidas Originals Phantom preview stood out for its use of an extremely eye-catching red shade on the midsole. This latest colorway is roughly inverted, with Infrared taking over the entire upper of a black-accented Phantom that's the most eye-catching design since it came back onto the scene a few months back. The mix of early '90s bold coloring with the low profile 1985 running silhouette is a curious match of which you'll want to see more below as we approach a March ship date.

Its return is brought on by a colorway just about as inconspicuous as its moniker, a shadowy pairing of greys and blacks with just a hint of dark royal thrown in there, keeping the runner pretty low key. To the contrary, this new adidas Originals Phantom is distinct from FA12's Pool and Dark Royal combo, and can be differentiated by the nappier and darker suede overlay, red Stripes instead of white and most definitively by this pair's prominent heel branding.

Japanese label White Mountaineering is ready to drop another premium capsule collection with adidas originals, which the Three Stripes preview via their Instagram account today. This time around it's the ZX Flux Plus and Riviera that White Mountaineering get a hold of for their own take on each silhouette. Giving the two models some contrast in aesthetic, the ZX Flux goes with a decidedly bold look featuring large "WHITE" branding across the midfoot elastic straps, while the Riviera stays more subtle in two clean and neutral renditions. You can expect the White Mountaineering x adidas Originals capsule collection at select retailers beginning March 16th.
